Pigment printer

Hi All,

After a lot of suffering with printing photos with non-oem dye ink in Canons printers (Pixma line) I am willing to buy a pigment printer.

Printing photos is a hobby. Therefore, some weeks I do not print much and other I do. I try, however, to print something once per week in order to avoid clogs.

I was once appointed by Palombian to a Canon Pro 10, but it is a very expensive machine for my purposes. In another thread Ink Stained Fingers discussed about the Epson WF2010W, which...

Term for cheap print?

What is the artistic term for a cheap print of an artist's work?

I'm buying frames with beautiful matting from thrift stores for less than $5 and in most cases destroying the art in the process of repurposing them for my photographs. The artwork is of a painting by some famous artist. I wish I'd taken a snapshot of the copyright and signature before closing up the frame. It was printed in some mass-produced fashion on what appears like a poster; it's not even photo-paper quality. I...

So when was the last time anyone thought of this. We use ball point pens to sign legal documents that are supposed to be legally binding for a very long time and we never think twice about the ink in the pens. This can be for baptism papers, wedding documents, bank accounts etc. land titles

Well as it turns out the ball point pens I have been using fade away faster than aftermarket dye ink. I labelled some prints using a ball point pen and after a month of exposure, the prints are still...

Filling CMY cartridges with black ink to get opaque black?

Hi.
I need to print black on transparency as opaquely as possible using a HP7500 E910 printer. It's a back-lit sign with clear letters on a black background 400mm x 300mm. I have worked out how to force the printer to print a composite black using CMYK which works best for the self-adhesive transparency film that offers best compromise between my ideal criteria and print opaqueness, but I would still like more black!
It's possible to see on the attached photo that light from a LED desk...

Printer Use Turbo Simulator..... a New Product Category

Instead of resetting chips, I am thinking of the creation of an accelerated printer use device.
This device will work in conjunction with ARC or so called COC chips which are supposed to reset themselves when empty.

Background: the major incovenience of ARC chips is the domino effect of being empty as each becomes empty and needs refilling. This can be frustrating and time consuming.

Solution: If we are able to force all these ARC chips into an empty condition at the same time, it has the...

This is not inkjet related, and seems very specific, but maybe someone has encountered it.
I always thought that the banding is due to cloged nozzles of magenta
Here the head printest for cyan is ok:[IMG]
But I noticed that banding seems to be caused by the cyan printing beyond image here:

You see, the ink...

did recent Win10 upgrade render my refillable carts no longer compatible?

A couple of days ago I got a msg from MSoft that I was due for a large upgrade. It certainly was large, took close to 1/2 hour. A while back there were warnings in the ink refill community to beware of Win 10 upgrades, that printer drivers would be upgraded whether you wanted them or not. These driver upgrades would render third party refillable cartridges no longer accepting refills. The user would be forced to use only Epson OEM carts.

When I went to my printer, an Epson 1430, to do a...

im not sure if this is the right spot, but I'm doing my own ink fading test. Here are the parameters:

Epson 3620
Precision colors PCDB ink
Epson brochure and flyer paper matte
Profile created with Colormunki pro

Prints placed in folder (book),
kitchen -non framed, in the open air, facing west,
framed in cheap office store frame under glass in a "typical",
outside, unprotected, under mild weather cover, facing east

Overall, after 1 month, no significant changes. Maybe some slight fading...

One of the nastiest enemy of dye inks is an oxidizing agent in the form of gases. Typically this can be ozone.

The best way to prevent oxidizing is to seal the substance from the oxidizing gas. Photopapers that did this used to be available about 15-20 years ago. Back then pigment ink printers were not around and standard dye inks were offered even by the OEM such as Canon and Epson and HP. So to protect prints from fading, the premium photo papers were in a category called SWELLABLE...

I have a set of refillable Cartridges for a Brother MFC-J4700W that have worked without issue, chips reset automatically when i refill them.
yesterday the black indicated low. refilled , replaced, pressed "1" to indicate that the cart had been replaced and got the Cannot detect error. Tried several times no luck.
Tested other colors, now they all do the same thing.
I have contacted the seller to see if these have a finite amount of resets ( which has been may 6 times over the last 18...

Not having a pigment ink based printer, I am not familiar with the models and their reference numbers. Many times I have seen posts referring to an unfamiliar printer, and I have wondered which type they are.

So I was pleased when I came across the following, by www.redrivercatalog.com, which listed all the pigment printers, with the comment that if it's not here, then its not pigment based.

Availability of Refillable Cartridges

I have noticed the new brother printer I was interested in had LC3017/3019 cartridges. Similarly, an Epson I was keen on has 802 cartridges. Neither seem to have refillable cartridges available.

Do the printer companies regularly change their cartridge formats for new printers? Can we usually count on a refillable cartridge with Auto Reset Chips or CISS to be available within a reasonable time frame after a printer is launched?

Odd Chip on cartridge

I was wandering if anyone had ever come across this chip before

it is an im340b this is in a franking machine cartridge, and is a rotated version of something else, just to make it hard to work with, these cartridges are in excess of £130 if bought from the supplier, and whats worse is that they have a strict life cycle, they will last exactly 12 months from date of insert, also if you do not insert them by the date on the cartridge, then they also cant be used.

I can program pretty much...
